There are over 100,000 different species of mold
Most of these exist outside and not all of them can make you sick. The most common types of molds found indoors are : Cladosporium, Aspergillus, Penicillium, Stachybotrys, and Alternaria. If you are sensitive to mold or are immunocompromised, common house hold mold at higher levels may cause reactions.
Painting over mold will NOT get rid of
If the issue that is causing the mold is not addressed properly, mold will eat away at the pain and will continue to spread. Once the problem is fixed and the mold is cleaned up properly, you should use mold resistant paint.
Bleach does not kill Mold
Bleach kills live mold but not mold spores. Many of us have used bleach and water at one point to get rid of it. Depending on the surface it's growing on, this will make mold regrow faster. If the mold is growing on a porous surface, you may need to replace it. If mold has grown extensively, be careful cleaning it to prevent mold spores being released into the air.
Black mold is not always toxic
Just because mold is black, does not necessarily mean it is a toxic mold. The only way to really know what kind of mold you're dealing with is by getting it analyzed by an accredited lab.
Mold grows very quickly
If you recently had water damage or a leak and it is not addressed immediately, mold can start growing within 24-48 hours. Mold thrives in moist conditions.
Mold can be colorful
Mold isn't always just green or black. It can be pink, orange, red, or blue! Whatever the color may be, we always recommend getting a professional out to sample and asses.
